You can never please people, especially the ones on social media. Some accounts are created just to troll others and throw in negative comments even when it is unnecessary.

A lady posted a chat with her adoptive father. In the chat, she shares that she has bagged her second qualification and the old man is elated. He asks which degree she secured and continues to speak of his pride towards her academic excellence.

Instead of congratulating her and acknowledging the beauty of the relationship between father and daughter, a few people interrogated how he is a supportive father if he doesn’t even know what she was studying.

There’s an easy answer to that. Parents will know that you’re studying but forget what you’re studying, especially if it’s courses that aren’t too known. It’s nothing deep.

Bafana was one tweep who criticized the post and wrote, “Supportive dad didn’t know what you’re studying? You must be studying in the league of shadows” but he did not expect the responses that were coming his way.

One tweep asked him, “Do you have a father?” And when he said he doesn’t, the tweep said it makes sense. I mean two wrongs don’t make a right but some people are really obsessed with finding loopholes in people’s stories.

Not everything will make neat sense and that’s okay. If it’s a good story, congratulate and move on. There’s no need to expose yourself to s point where you’re interrogated on whether you have a father because your jealousy sounds like you don’t.

Thoughts? Do you think we are obsessed with sad stories that we find loopholes in good stories?
