What is SEDA?

Seda was founded in December 2004 as an agency under the then-Department of Commerce and Industry by the National Small Business Amendment Act – Act 29 of 2004. (the dti).

The Ntsika Business Development Agency, the National Manufacturing Advisory Centre, and the Community Public Private Partnership (CPPP) program were amalgamated into the new entity.

In April 2006, the GODISA Trust and the National Technology Transfer Centre joined with Seda to become the Seda Technology Programme (Stp).

The South African Quality Institute’s small company assistance function and the Technology for Women in Business’s technology-related activities were merged with Stp in 2008.

In 2009, Stp was fully merged into Seda structures. Seda’s mission and powers were transferred from the dti to the DSBD in 2014.

Its vision is to make a difference in the lives of SMMEs every day, and its mission is to promote entrepreneurship and the development of small businesses by providing tailored non-financial business support services that result in business growth and sustainability in collaboration with other ecosystem players.

Seda works with numerous ecosystem players and invests heavily in promoting entrepreneurship and the growth of Small, Medium, and Micro Businesses (SMMEs) across the country. Seda has the largest office network in the country, with 54 branches, 46 co-location locations, and 110 incubators.

What is This Learnership Program?

Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) welcomes unemployed South African graduates to apply for the 12-month Finance and Administrative Internship Program 2023.

The internship program’s goal is to give adequate and meaningful work experience that corresponds to the intern’s qualifications.

Requirements

Please make sure you meet ALL of the following minimum entrance requirements before submitting your application because if you don’t, your application will be rejected:

Matric (level 4)/Grade 12 and Degree /National Diploma in Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting and/or Financial Management (NQF Level 6)
Competencies

Planning and organizing skills
Communication (verbal and written) skills
Strong attention to detail
High-level Excel spreadsheet skills
Aptitude for financial management and /or budgeting
High level of accuracy in data entry
Time management
Ability to move through systems quickly and accurately
Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
High level of internal customer service, translating and supporting
