Esri Bursary

The Esri Bursary Programme is aimed at students studying Geographic and Informations Science (GIS), Geography or any other related Diploma at the Esri South African College.

The Esri Bursary will provide successful applicants with part-time work in the GIS fields of Cartography, Implementation Services, Educational Services, Client Solutions, and Consulting Services. Upon successful completion of the relevant Diploma, beneficiaries will be required to register as a GISc Technician with the South African Geomatics Council.

Esri is an international company that specializes in the creation and maintenance of highly advanced Geographic Information Systems (GIS). These GIS systems take the form of intuitive mapping and spatial analytics software, boasting numerous problem-solving applications, serving farming, education, and governmental sectors.

Esri South Africa is the South African branch of Esri, and is licensed to sell the above-mentioned GIS software programs in the Southern Africa region. The Esri South African College aims to educate students in the use of these GIS systems and its geographical components, helping them master the latest in Geospatial Technology.

Closing Date of the Bursary
Please note that bursary applications for the Esri Bursary Programme will close on the 31 of October 2021.

Applications received after the closing date will not be considered for the bursary programme.

Applicants who have not received a response within three weeks of the closing date should consider their application to be unsuccessful.

About the Esri Bursary
The Esri Bursary Programme is aimed at hardworking, talented, open-minded and dedicated students who have completed their schooling in South Africa. These candidates should be about to enter their FIRST year of study. The bursary programme will cover the tuition fees, study material fees, and registration fees of the successful applicants.

The bursary is valid for a period of 2 years, subject to academic performance.

 

Applications are open to those who have successfully obtained their National Senior Certificate (NSC) in 2020.
Applications are those who achieved an average of at least 90% for Pure Mathematics in matric
Applications are open to those who have applied / plan on applying at Esri South Africa College.
Applications are open to those who can prove that they are hardworking and ethical.
Applications are open to those wishing to study a Geographic and Informations Science (GIS) / Geography related Diploma.
Prospective applicants should be studying one of the following Diplomas or related Diplomas:

Geography
Please note that bursary programme preference will be given to employment equity candidates.

Esri Bursary Coverage
The Esri Bursary Programme will provide successful applicants with financial assistance which will pay for the costs of the applicable diploma.

The bursary will cover the costs of the:

The registration fees of the successful applicant(s).
The full tuition fees of the successful applicant(s).
The study material of the successful applicant(s).
Please note that the Esri Bursary will not cover the accommodation and transportation costs of the successful applicant(s).

Please note that successful applicants are expected to perform part-time work at Esri during the course of the Bursary Programme. These projects will include:

Cartography
Implementation Services
Educational Services
Client Solutions
Consulting Services
Application Development
Upon successful completion of the relevant Diploma, beneficiaries will be required to register as a GISc Technician with the South African Geomatics Council.

How to apply for the Esri Bursary?
Kindly note that students applying for the Esri Bursary Programme should apply electronically at the official Esri South Africa Bursary Panel .

The following supporting information must be attached to the applicant’s application form:

A certified copy of the applicant’s ID card/Book
A copy of the name of the school were the National Senior Certificate (NSC) was obtained
A copy of the applicant’s complete academic history
Failure to adhere to the above-mentioned requirements will result in a rejected application.
