The Electrum Bursary is for University students based Cape Town, who have shown potential in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and other related degrees.

Electrum is constantly trying to identify new talent, with the Electrum Bursary falling within the company’s commitment to enhance the skills of students who can excel in FinTech.

Electrum is a vibrant and dynamic SaaS company, delivering industry-leading expertise and technology to solve real problems every day.

Electrum specializes in providing cloud-based transacting solutions to major banks, retailers, and mobile network operators. Some of their notable clients include renowned companies such as Capitec, Shoprite, Vodacom, and Pick ‘n Pay.

The Electrum Bursaries are three separate bursaries, namely:

All About Awesome Women in Tech Bursary
Electrum Foundation Bursary
Closing Date of the Bursary
Please note that there is no closing date for the various bursaries offered within the Electrum Bursary Programme. Eligible students may send through their applications at any time.

About the Bursary
The Electrum Bursary aims to identify and attract young and gifted university students who currently study Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and other related degrees.

Ideal candidates for these bursaries are students who boast an impressive academic record accompanied by strong communication skills.

Electrum Bursary Requirements and Eligibility?
It is important to note that the various bursary opportunities offered within the broader framework of the Electrum Bursary Programme have their unique requirements.

Requirements for the AAA Electrum Academic Bursary
Students who are studying Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or any other related degree.
Students in their second or final year of their undergraduate degree or students in their honours year.

Students enrolled at either the University of Cape Town (UCT) or Stellenbosch University (SU).
Students who have achieved and maintain at least a 65% average for all of their computer science modules.
Students who have never failed a subject while maintaining an average of at least 65%.
Requirements for the All About Awesome Women in Tech Bursary
Female students who are studying Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or any other related degree.
Female students in their second or final year of their undergraduate degree or students in their honours year.
Female students enrolled at either the University of Cape Town (UCT) or Stellenbosch University (SU).
Female students who have achieved and maintain at least a 65% average for all of their computer science modules.
Female students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds are encouraged to apply for this bursary.
Requirements for the Electrum Foundation Bursary
Students who are studying Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or any other related degree.
Students in their second or final year of their undergraduate degree or students in their honours year.
Students enrolled at either the University of Cape Town (UCT), Stellenbosch University (SU), Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), University of the Western Cape (UWC) or UNISA.
Students who are unable to pay for their own studies.

Programme differ in their coverages.

AAA Electrum Academic Bursary Coverage
The recipient will have their fInal year full tuition paid for.
The recipient will be provided with a new laptop.
The recipient will be provided with their required textbooks.
The accommodation fees of the recipient will be paid.
The recipient will be provided with an internship upon completion of his/her studies.
The recipient will be provided with mentorship.
The recipient who has obtained this bursary is obligated to sign a one year work-back contract with Electrum after the completion of his/her studies.
All About Awesome Women in Tech Bursary Coverage
The recipient will have their fInal year full tuition paid for.
The recipient will be provided with a new laptop.
The recipient will be provided with their required textbooks.
The accommodation fees of the recipient will be paid.
The recipient will be provided with mentorship.
The recipient will be assisted with building their CV.
The recipient will be coached on their job interview technique.
Electrum Foundation Bursary Coverage
The recipient will have their full tuition paid for.
The Recipient will be provided with their required textbooks.

How to Apply?

To apply for the Electrum Bursary, prospective students are required to:

Send their updated CV and their student academic history to careers@electrum.co.za
Attend a two-hour technical interview
Indicate the bursary they’re applying for as well as their full name in the ‘subject line’ of the email.
